Todd Weir has a diverse practice featuring defense of medical negligence cases on behalf of hospitals and physicians. He also represents license holders concerning investigations regarding the conduct of the license holders. In the last 20 years, his trial practice has included trying scores of complex medical negligence cases to verdict. These cases have included cases on behalf of hospitals and physicians involving a wide variety of medical issues and theories of liability. Mr. Weir has also served as statewide counsel for pharmaceutical manufacturers defending the pharmaceutical manufacturers in class-action litigation.
In addition to his extensive trial work, Mr. Weir frequently provides inservice information to risk management departments at hospitals and clinics. He is a frequent guest lecturer at the University of Wisconsin School of Nursing where he discusses risk prevention issues. He is a frequent presenter at seminars for trial attorneys.
Mr. Weir joined a predecessor of Otjen, Van Ert & Weir, S.C., in 1979 as a law clerk. He serves as the president of Otjen, Gendelman, Zitzer, Johnson & Weir, S.C.
When not focusing on the practice of law, Mr. Weir is a youth baseball coach and umpire with the inner city Beckum Stapleton Little League. He also is a volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Milwaukee.
